How Adopterluv Accounts are Created

There is no Sign Up button for Adopterluv because your account is created for you when your shelter registers your new pet's microchip at adoption.

Adopterluv accounts aren't something you create yourself. Yours gets set up for you, automatically, when the shelter or rescue processes your adoption. All you have to do is activate it.

How it works

When your adoption is finalized, the organization you adopted from records it in their system. That creates your Adopterluv account behind the scenes and sends an invitation to the email address they have on file for you.

The invitation comes from help@adopterluv.com with the subject line: Congrats on adopting! Don't miss these photos of [Your Pet's Name]

Inside it, there's a green Activate My Account button. Click that, set a password, and you're in. From then on you can log in here with your email and password.

That's the whole process. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to pay.

What to do if the invitation never showed up

This is the most common thing we hear about, and it's almost always one of four things.

1. Check your spam and promotions folders. The email includes photos of your pet, which is lovely, and also exactly the kind of thing filters like to grab. Search your inbox for "Adopterluv" or your pet's name rather than scrolling.

2. Check which email address the shelter has for you. The invitation goes to the address on your adoption paperwork. If you gave them a work address, an old address, or a partner's address, that's where it went. If you didn't give them an email at all, no invitation was ever sent.

3. Some email providers filter it more aggressively than others. If your address is with iCloud, Outlook, Hotmail, MSN, or AOL, the invitation is more likely to be delayed or filtered out before you see it. Worth checking those folders carefully.

4. The link expired. Activation links don't last forever. If you're clicking one from an older email and it doesn't work, or it lands on an error page, you'll need a fresh one.
