Registering Your Pet's Microchip

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Most pets are registered automatically when they are adopted, so registering your pet's microchip is usually just a matter of double-checking it. Most pets are registered automatically at adoption, but you can confirm or manage your registration anytime by signing in to your Adopterluv account. Registration is free for life; see registration cost and coverage for what is included.

Registering Your Pet

In most cases, your pet's microchip was automatically registered at the time of adoption through your shelter or rescue. You can check your registration in your Adopterluv account

If you don't see a microchip number listed, we recommend reaching out to the organization you adopted from. They can help add it to your account.

If you see a microchip number in the "Microchips" tab, your pet is registered with Adopterluv. You can view and update your contact information directly on that tab.

If the microchip number appears only in the "My Pets" tab and not in the "Microchips" tab, it likely means the microchip is registered with a different registry.

To find out where your pet's microchip is registered, you can search the number using the AAHA Microchip Registry Lookup Tool. This tool provides a list of registries associated with your pet's microchip.
